Welcome to Thanks for the Memory - a historic vacation rental originally built in 1935 that was once home to Hollywood Royalty Bob and Dolores Hope! This iconic California Ranch home is walled and gated for privacy and sits on 2 city lots in the upscale Movie Colony East neighborhood. Beds: K,K,K,K,Q,

The front gate opens up to a fabulous yard w/ breathtaking mountain views, an oversized swimming pool surrounded by chaise lounges, alfresco dining and a firepit lounge. The back of the home features a large yard w/ a spa, living pavilion w/ outdoor seating, more alfresco dining, and BBQ grill - plus yard games! This home is a gorgeous vacation oasis steeped in Hollywood history!

OUTDOOR LIVING SPACES
This spectacular home captures the magic of southern California glamour. As you walk through the gates you’ll be greeted by a private front yard w/ a resort-style 45ft long pool - one of the largest private pools in Palm Springs – chaise lounges, alfresco dining and firepit lounge situated for breathtaking mountain views. The back of the home features an inviting spa and oversized covered living area w/ outdoor seating, alfresco dining for 10+, and BBQ grill - plus yard games including shuffleboard, croquet, darts, and more. The spectacular mountain views and lush landscaping - including 10+ seasoned citrus trees - compliment the old world feel. Towering palm trees add to the magic of this property.

** The pool will be heated upon request with an additional service fee. Please let us know if you'd like to heat the pool so we can ensure it is heated before your arrival. Spa heating is included with your rental at no extra cost **

INDOOR LIVING SPACES
This iconic estate has been completely reimagined by the current owner - while still preserving its historic integrity and splendor. Fabulous Hollywood Regency style art andmid-century furnishings, custom wallpaper, pops of color and nods to the Hope family throughout make this home a social media treasure w/ photo ops everywhere. The free-flowing floor plan w/ travertine marble throughout the main house and high ceilings w/ walls of glass add an airy feel. Pour yourself a martini at the original mirrored bar where Bob entertained Hollywood legends, presidents and pro golfers after his famed Desert Classic. It’s the perfect ambience for guests wanting the true Palm Springs experience - Hollywood Royalty style!

** The term "Pets Allowed” or “Pets Accepted" at an ACME House Company vacation rental means that we welcome dogs only. No other pets are allowed. **

SLEEPING QUARTERS
This property features 3 suites in the main house, a Pool House and a separate Casita. The Bob Hope Suite - which was Bob Hope's very own bedroom – has a King bed w/ original mirrored walls, flatscreen TV, ensuite marble bath w/ a double sink, and a walk-in closet (Bob’s tie rack and shoe shelf still remain in the closet). The Dolores Suite features fabulous wallpaper, King bed, walk-in closet, and private half bathroom. The Atomic Room features a Queen bed, Atomic gold star wallpaper, mid-century modern décor and a connected private bathroom. Many of the home’s original details still exist w/ ornate door knobs, gold fixtures and weathered mirrors.

The detached Casita in the back of the house has a private entrance and old Hollywood tropical vibe w/ a King bed, flatscreen TV, a desk, and ensuite bath. The Pink Lemonade Pool House located in the front of the property has a private entrance, King bed, flatscreen TV and ensuite bath w/ restored original tile and mirrors. There’s also an additional cabana bath w/ shower off the pool.

PALM SPRINGS HISTORY
Gorgeous California Ranch Style home purchased by the Hope family in 1946 and sold by the Hope Estate in 2013. Bob and Dolores lived there w/ their 4 children for years. Since then, this home has been thoughtfully updated but still retains much of its original integrity and meticulous construction for that era.

LOCATION
Great location in the very popular Movie Colony East - a quarter mile from the world-famous Palm Canyon Drive as it cuts through the Uptown Design District. An easy walk to Ruth Hardy Park. Casual eateries, fine dining, coffee spots, art galleries and specialty boutiques are all just a few minutes away. The Convention Center, Casino, public tennis courts, movie theaters, museums, and live performance venues are also very close by. This is the ideal location for those who want to be close to everything but just a little bit removed for peace and quiet.

All 9 of us had nothing but compliments when we first walked in the gate. That created a positive vibe that kept with us the entire time. The Bob & Delores Hope theme was present, yet complimented the Palm Springs "Movie Colony" feel. Open environment with the living room engaged with the kitchen and outdoor pool deck. Pool, Jacuzzi, darts, shuffle board, BBQ, and more. Rooms were large and spacious with one of them cute but decorated to make you smile. Close to downtown Palm Springs, 111 highway, Tram, and hikes. We left with great memories!

Had an excellent time in Palm Springs at Thanks For The Memories house, the house of Bob and Delores Hope. The Acme House Company was able to accommodate us with early check-in and late checkout. They kept us informed and were extremely easy to work with via text and email. The house is updated where needed, and still had some original features. Enough room to comfortably house up to 5 couples. The pool was in great condition and felt great on a hot, summer day. We will be using this company again for our next Palm Springs stay.

Wonderful weekend getaway

This property left us wanting for nothing! It was exactly as described. The pictures don’t convey how spacious it actually is. It sits on a corner and occupies two lots. You really have a lot of space to enjoy, whether it’s in the front pool area, in the home or in the backyard. The pool is absolutely massive and we liked how there was also a jacuzzi in the backyard. We really loved how each bedroom had its own full bathroom and there were even 1.5 extra bathrooms on top of that! Property Management was quick to send someone out when we notified them that we couldn’t access the pool inflatables, which were locked in the garage. Our group likes to cook and they had good quality cookware, which was impressive. We can’t wait for an excuse to stay here again! Five out of five stars!

House was perfect for 4 couples and 4 kids. Note that the pool is HUGE and gets deep very quickly so keeping an eye on children is paramount. The house was very nicely appointed. High end kitchen appliances, super comfy beds and bedding, and the amenities (toiletries, laundry soap, and even coffee) provided were very much appreciated. Darts, shuffleboard and croquet in the backyard were enjoyed by all. Close enough to walk into town. Ruth Hardy Park nearby. We'd stay again in a heartbeat.

Exquisite Vacation And Home

This was a 75th birthday that included 6 adults and 3 children under 6. The spaciousness of the home allowed for us all to be under one roof, but to have ample rooms for sleeping, playing and quiet. The pool, with available toys, was amazing. Sitting under the awning in the hot Palm Springs air was divine. The back sitting area allowed for meals outside d lots of running room for children. The kitchen was well supplied. The home itself brought Bob and Delores Hope to life. What a privilege to stay in their well appointed home. Acme Rental was superb. This house left wonderful memories for 6 adults and 3 preschool children. We were celebrating a big birthday. The beautiful house was absolutely perfect: bedrooms for all, beautiful pool with lots of toys, well supplied kitchen, outdoor spaces for eating and plenty of spots to just hang out. The grounds are well kept and the house very clean. We felt so fortunate to be in Bob and Delores Hope’s iconic home. Acme house company is the best management company I’ve encountered. The team was friendly and responsive to all questions and requests. The trip was simply fabulous. Thanks for the memories.

Excellent location, home and pool!

Loved this location in Movie Colony East. Walkable to downtown and to a nice city park. The home is nicely appointed with all bedrooms spread out and offering their own bathrooms. There were 10 of us and I would have appreciated having more than 1 bath towel/person for a 5 night stay, but, it was nice having 1 pool towel/person and we just had to do a little extra laundry to have clean bath towels. The kitchen could have been stocked better, but it was manageable. We loved having the bar with all of the stemware and plastic cup options for the pool. The home is furnished with Target and Ikea quality items, but, it is very functional and still has that fun mid-century modern vibe. Overall, a wonderful property and high marks for ACME House Rentals, whom I will use again.

Unforgettable Vacation in Bob Hope’s Very own Home

This property and historic home is undoubtedly the most quintessential Palm Springs estate in The Movie Colony. Taking over 2 city lots this private compound goes on forever. We got lost exploring the grounds. The back casita is adorable with its own large bath. The view of the mountains over the hedge is breathtaking when the sun sets. The pool side bedroom is stunning with tropical pinks and ornate retro Thomasville Furniture form the 60’s. The bathroom has the original tile and vanity picked by The Hopes when they built it. Bob’s old closet in his master suite has his original tie rack and golf shoe rack. The mirrored walls in his bedroom remain. The inside of this carefully designed home capture all the old glory but with modern day furnishings and decor including Schumacher wallpaper and a Jonathan Adler chandelier. The pool is 45 feet long and is the original one where Bob and his buddies would swim after his classic golf tournaments. The backyard has been transformed into an adult playground with a huge hot tub and shuffle board and seating for over a dozen. The fire pit and lounge area glows in the night and faces the pool. The sunset and sunrise are equally breathtaking. When we relax outside or inside the rooms are inviting and cozy. The indoor fireplace is gorgeous as is the original Rat Pack style glass bar! I never wanted to leave this property. Can’t wait to return! 6 Stars!!

Overall Comment House is large, clean and well stocked, plenty of room with a front pool area and back yard eating and game area that was a lot of fun. The only downside is the awning doesn’t work on the pool side of the house and with limited umbrellas in the heat of day the concrete is very hot around the pool area
